En 1910 Luchon welcame the very first high moutain stage of hte Tour de France, won by Octave LAPIZE.
Since, Luchon has been 52 times stop-over city!!
This fame, partly due to legendary passes surrounding it (Portillon, Peyresourdes, Balé, and further Aspin and Tourmalet) is confirmed by the numerous trials organized in the Luchon area (Lapébie, Haute-Route, Route du Sud, and so on...)
